19MayUPDATE: Almost 9,000 books have gone back in to the community!
It has been a while since the blog has been updated! So many exciting & new nonprofits benefiting from the books!
Here is a recap of what has been going on:
- 500+ book donated to PALS. They are a wonderful nonprofit helping “at risk” kids/teen after school program
- Was asked 2 be a guest speaker for West Columbia Gorge Rotary. Very excited!
- East Hill Church has GREEN outdoor bin in parking lot next 2 Multnomah Library 701 N Main Avenue Gresham all used books ok

- Books 4 Giving has been recognized by City of Gresham as a GREAT Recycler for their efforts to conserve resources through recycling… TBD June 3rd, 2010 receiving award at GBSD meeting

- Went 2 Lloyd Center to be a Rose Festival Judge!!!!! Really impressed with the girls how involved in the community they are!
- GBEF has 2 new GREEN outdoor book bins: Burnside/Eastman Prkway by Key Bank and Gresham Village Shopping Center on Burnside/Powell
- Dr Suees’ bday! Went 2 West Orient Middle School to read with kids & donate 228 books. Featured in a couple blogs http://readergirlz.blogspot.com/2010/04/west-orient-middle-school-rocks-drop.html www.westorientbooksblog.blogspot.com

- New BOOK Drop off Portland-David Douglas Transportation has a blue indoor bin 2904 SE 122nd Portland 97236
- Gave out almost 500 books @ Boys N Girls Club! Being there was such a blessing! The kids & parents LUVED the books, surprised they were free




- Read “Lllama llama red pajama” to preschoolers (my favorite book EVER!) & give out free books for the kids in 2 classrooms!
- Went 2 a Cinco De Mayo planning committee yesterday. Excited to help out & bring Rockwood Community 2gether w/ free event!
- SnowCap has a book bin for donations & we have donated over 700 kids books!
- 1200 books went back into the community in March =) & almost 3,000 in April!
- Went to RiteAid fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network & gave our free books! RiteAid raises money every year for CMN with a plant sale & fair.

- Rockwood Cinco De Mayo was Awesome!! Gave out almost 1,500 free book back in to the community! THe rain didn’t stop anyone heheh! Everyone was just so excited & taking handfuls!
